Socialize the Commerce Experience

(My monthly article on ClickZ) Facebook commerce, or F-commerce as it is being called, is developing at a startling fast pace, with new examples popping up daily on the Facebook platform. Simply adding products for sale in isolation on a Facebook page will probably not be enough to drive referral and purchase potential. Businesses, retailers, and brands need to be thinking about the social consumer experience of social commerce to help drive trial and purchase.

Will Facebook Credits Work as a Real-World Currency? 

(My article as published in ClickZ) Millions of Facebook users use Facebook Credits to pay for virtual goods inside games like CityVille and FarmVille. It seems that the logical next step is to use Facebook Credits to purchase digital and real-world goods. This has begun to transpire; we are seeing a robust Facebook Credit economy for virtual goods and an early stage Facebook Credit economy emerging for digital and real-world goods.

F-Commerce, turning "like" into "buy" - Mesh 11 (my presentation)

Presentation from Mesh 11 last week about F-Commerce. Social commerce is gaining momentum. Analysts are predicting that commerce from Facebook stores will hit $30 billion by 2015. Businesses of all sizes are building and testing commerce solutions inside Facebook and are looking at how they can turn conversations into conversions. Coke, Barneys, Sears, Pampers, Dove, Sephora, Lands End and many others pages have built “Shopping” Tabs in their Facebook pages.

Will your mom buy shoes inside Facebook?

I was recently asked the question; do I really think people over the age of 40 will participate in F-Commerce or social commerce? My immediate response was, that it was not an age related behavior question but rather a user behavior question.
