f8- A Facebook Social Commerce Primer

We were all eyes and ears last week listening to Facebook's string of announcements at F8. Notably, Facebook announced a new profile design called Timeline, a Ticker, smarter friend lists, and other personal profile items. The good news for businesses, marketers, social commerce, and developers is a new class of applications called Lifestyle Apps for the Open Graph Beta. Facebook launched Lifestyle Apps with a large select group of partners including, Spotify, Turntable, Netflix, Foodspotting, and The Wall Street Journal.

Will Privacy Concerns Limit F-Commerce?

his article originally appeared on ClickZ and was authored by Janice Diner. JWT Intelligence published its trend report, Social Commerce last month. In it, Ann Mack and Patti Orsini did a great job summarizing three key social commerce trends, providing case studies and research to support their findings. I also participated in the report. The JWT research found that nearly eight in 10 American and British adults said they worry about the privacy implications of shopping directly on Facebook. Three-quarters said they "don't think Facebook is secure enough to make purchases on."

JWT Intelligence NY: Q&A with Janice Diner, social commerce consultant

I participated in JWT Intelligence white paper on Social Commerce, below is a reprint of my interview with Patty Orsini As we researched our Social Commerce trend report, we talked to Diner about how she sees social commerce evolving and what brands should be doing to keep up in this fast-moving space. Her mantra, the thing she says she tells clients time and again, is that to sell products, they need to be where their customers are—and that isn’t necessarily a brick-and-mortar location. Brands that ignore F-commerce, m-commerce and other forms of social commerce do so at their peril, she warns. Increasingly, the social graph will be the tool that will help brands find customers and customers find brands.
